Retiring Teachers
by Brandon Handt
Coach Spale will be retiring this year after 22 years of public education at Northwest. His main reason for leaving is the "Rule of 85," which is your age plus the number of years you've worked. He will be turning 55 this year and has taught for 32 years in public education, so he's a little overdue.
Mr. Melson has also worked at Northwest for 22 years and will be retiring at the end of this year. His reason for leaving is because he's eligible. He's reached the Rule of 85 after working 34 years in the education industry. He wants to take some time off from working, but he will get another job--just not one in education.
Mr. Sheffield will be leaving Northwest after his 30 years of service comes to an end this year. He is planning on switching jobs after the school year. He's not sure yet what he wants to do though. He is certain, however, that he wants to travel more.
So now we say good luck and good bye to these three teachers; you will be missed.
