Northwest High: Sports: Cross Country

Cross Country Information

If you are interested in running cross country for Northwest this fall, see Mr. Olson or call at 308-379-9630. Click on the link below to view the summer schedule of events for cross country candidates.  All runners should be participating in the weight room AND running during the summer.  Try-outs for the team will begin on August 7 thru 13 or 14 thru 20.  To make the team you must complete one of these sessions.

2008 summer schedule

Northwest will offer a cross country camp for athletes in grades 6th - 12th.  The camp will take place at Northwest High School on June 16 - 20th, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.  An application form is posted on this web page, click on the link below.

On-line Camp Application  

     This camp is for all types of runners no matter what experience level.  Topics to be covered will include: equipment, nutrition, training, philosophy of running, weight training and conditioning, and how to race over a 3 mile course.  There will be some short runs each day as well as team building activities.  Camp fee is $40.00, after June 1st $50.00.

FCA is offering a cross country camp on from June 10 - 13 in Scottsbluff, NE.  The emphasis will be on how to learn to do cross country God's way.   A great way to take the pressure of winning or losing, of failure and disappointments away from us and learn how to always have a great race.  To become the most complete runner God created you to be.

     The cost of the camp is $175 and open for grades 9-12.  See Mr. Olson for an application.  Or you can register on-line at www.fcacamps.org. 

  UNK is offering a cross country camp from July 21 - 23.  Cost is $200 if you stay on campus of $130 for commuters.  See Mr. Olson for an application or go to www.lopers.com for the links to the application
