District PLC Leadership Team Formed
by Jane Brown

Following a staff development conference this summer on building Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s), thirty plus staff members, along with one school board member, have come back enthused to put this philosophy into practice in the Northwest district.
PLC’s are essentially teams of teachers grouped according to grade level or content area, working together on a regular basis to enhance student achievement. In this setting, teachers collaboratively set goals, plan instruction, and assess student learning.
Recently a district PLC Leadership Team was formed to provide direction as this process moves forward. Every building in the district, as well as the school board, is represented on the team. The team members and the building they represent are as follows: Chapman- Mr. Strecker and Mr. VanderHamm; Cedar Hollow – Mr. Retzlaff and Mr. Morriss; Northwest – Miss Melroy, Mrs. Rouzee, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Denney, One-R – Mrs. Eirick and Mr. Mazour; St. Libory – Mr. Robinson and Mr. Ellsworth; School Board – Mr. Witt.
The District PLC Leadership team will meet at least quarterly to help implement the PLC philosophy.
