Vikings Host Volleyball Tournament This Weekend
The Northwest Varsity and Junior Varsity volleyball teams will be playing at Northwest on September 27. The varsity team will play against Lexington at 9 am and Omaha Skutt at 11 am in the new gym. The junior varsity team will play against Omaha Skutt at 10 am and Lexington at noon in the old gym. Pool play begins at 9 am with the last game scheduled for 2:15. The finals will begin at 3:30 with the championship game slated for 6 pm. Game times are approximate and tournament officials will try to move the tournament ahead whenever possible.
The Lady Vikes are currently rated #2 in Class B by the metro papers and had an impressive three-match win over #3-rated Aurora on Tuesday night. Head Coach Diane Rouzee said, "We look forward to playing in our own tournament every year. The varsity and junior varsity format is good and we play some good matches." Other teams competing in the tournament are the varsity and JV squads from York, Columbus Scotus, and Hastings.
Admission: All day -- $5 (1st grade through adult); after 3 pm -- $3 (1st grade through adult). This is a great opportunity for Vikings fans to support their VB team and watch some exciting volleyball!!
