Northwest Band Experiences Success
Earns Superior Rating at Harvest of Harmony
The Northwest Marching Band has experienced success in its first two competitions. On September 27 the band competed at Kearney and brought home several honors, including Best Class A Band, Best Auxiliary Unit (Color Guard), Best Drum Line, and the Sweepstakes Trophy, indicating that Northwest was the best overall band in the parade, regardless of class.
On October 4 the band competed at Harvest of Harmony in both the parade competition and in the field show competition. In the parade competition, Northwest achieved second place in Class A with Aurora garnering top honors. Band member Karli Luth represented Northwest in the queen competition on Friday. The Northwest FFA Chapter also received first place in the School Division competition for their float entry.
Northwest took the field at Senior High on Saturday afternoon, playing their 2008 show, "Cirque du Soleil". They were one of three schools competing in Class A and earned a superior rating for their performance.
The band's next competition will be Saturday, October 25, when they compete in their final competition of the year--the NSBA State Band Competition at Bellevue East High School.
