Band/Vocal Music Students Prepare for All-State
Seven individuals from Northwest High School have been selected to participate in the 2008 All-State Chorus and Band on November 20-22. In order to be selected for All-State, students must spend hours rehearsing their music before doing a live audition in October. Those students trying out are then rated, with the top vocalists and instrumentalists being invited to Lincoln for a three-day event. The students will spend most of their time in rehearsals on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning, in preparation for their final concerts on Saturday afternoon and evening at the Lied Center in Lincoln. The All-State Chorus and All-State Orchestra will perform at 4:30 pm; the All-State Band and All-State Jazz Band concert will follow at 7 pm.
Jennifer Zarek (sophomore) will represent Northwest in the band. Jennifer is a flutist. Sam Schneider (senior) was an alternate for the trumpet section.
Students participating in the choral division include Kendra Davis (sophomore), Josh Huls (senior), Tyler Koepp (junior), Kevin Palu (junior), Megan Pattison (senior) and Kali Ramsey (junior). The following students were selected as alternates: Alex Brown (senior), Konnor Davis (sophomore), Toni Langrehr (junior), Shayla Murphy (senior), Sam Schneider (senior), and Brady Sullivan (junior). Josh and Megan are three-year participants of the All-State Choir.
The event is held in conjunction with the NMEA Convention.
