SCHOLARSHIP LIST

DECEMBER 17, 2009

If you want an application for any of the scholarships listed below, bring this list to the Counselors’ Office with your name at the top and a mark beside each application you want.  We will get the application back to you to complete.  Follow the instructions and most importantly, make sure you have the completed application either mailed or returned to the Counselors’ Office by the DEADLINE DATE. NO late applications will be accepted.  THE SCHOLARSHIPS YOU HAVE TO APPLY FOR ON THE WEB YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MARK.

NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS-must have multiple sclerosis OR is a child of someone with Multiple Sclerosis.   Applications will be accepted through January 15, 2010 and are available online at www.nationalmssociety.org/scholarship

UNK-HONOR COOPERATING-ACT 23+, rank in the top 30% of class and be admitted to UNK by February 1stDEADLINE DATE: FEBRUARY 1, 2010

WARREN VELDA WILSON FOUNDATION-students who are planning to attend a Nebraska college who live and go to a High School in Hall or Hamilton County should apply. DEADLINE DATE: FEBRUARY 12, 2010

STUEVEN AND HARDING--parent letter explaining financial support, handwritten statement.  DEADLINE DATE: FEBRUARY 15, 2010

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS-applicant must have been a matched Little Brother or Little Sister in the Grand Island Agency for at least one year or a high school mentor if no former Little applies for the scholarship.  DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 1, 2010

CHET LINDER MEMORIAL-participation and leadership in school and community activities, recommended that applicant intends to major in business or a business related field. DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 1, 2010

NEBRASKA HEARTLAND -above average GPA, demonstrate good character, leadership, preference given to candidates interested in courses of study such as education, business/management/finance, marketing, sales or actuarial science.  DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 1, 2010

BECKIE BARNES BIXBY MEMORIAL LEGAL-female, academics, financial need, must plan to major in legal professional studies. DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 15, 2010

CATHERINE FOSKET/LIEDERKRANZ- essay, 3 letters of recommendation.DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 15, 2010

ALPHA DELTA KAPPA-EPSILON CHAPTER-girl,wanting to enter the field of education who plans to become a teacher.  DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 17, 2010

EZ OF P.E.O.-girl, upper 50% of class, demonstrate financial need.  DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 17, 2010

ACTS OF KINDNESS LADIES-must be interested by helping others essay. DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 19, 2010

WASMER SCHOOL-must have attended Wasmer School for at least 3 years and must rank in the upper 30% of class.  DEADLINE DATE: MARCH 19, 2010

 CENTRAL PLATTE NRD-must be considering a career in natural resources or agriculture. DEADLINE DATE: APRIL 1, 2010

JAMI HARPER NEBRASKA CHILDREN’S GROUNDWATER FESTIVAL-preference given to applicant entering a water resources related field.  DEADLINE DATE: APRIL 1, 2010

SOUTHERN POWER DISTRICT-must plan on attending an accredited school to begin a two year utility line study program.  DEADLINE DATE: APRIL 1, 2010

UNL CONSERVATION SCHOLARSHIP-plan to attend UNL and be enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and have an interest in the Natural Resources Conservation Service.  DEADLINE DATE: APRIL 1, 2010

The Warren & Velda Wilson scholarship application is on the Northwest website.  All you need to do is click on the Counselors Corner, click on the Counselors Office and click on the Warren Velda Wilson Scholarship. In order for you to save your PDF files you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 8.1.1 or later installed on your computer.  A computer also will be available for you to use in either Mrs. Huls or Mrs. Purdy’s room if you want to save the information. 

The application does require 2 recommendation letters and the application and  the recommendation letters need to be returned to the Counselors’ Office by February 12th.

We also do have a hard copy of the scholarship in our office that you can pick up BUT it will be a lot easier to fill it out on the computer.

Students planning on attending UNK and pursuing careers in Health Care will be eligible for a scholarship opportunity.  If you are interested you can pick up specific information in the Counselors’ Office.
