February On Trial
1-R Fifth Grade Examines Charges
The fifth grade classroom was transformed into a courtroom for the performance, "February On Trial.” In the play, February was charged with not working hard enough and not having enough days to be on the calendar. The defense worked hard to clear February, and throughout the trial, the students learned many important things about February.
A few people who spoke on behalf of February were Miss Valentine, George Washington, the Groundhog, Susan B. Anthony, a Boy Scout, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Edison. After a long trial, the jury found February NOT GUILTY! The students enjoyed working on the play and, during the process, learned a lot about many famous people and events.
The fifth graders would like to thank their parents, family, and friends who came to watch. It means so much to have such great support!
