This is the FIRST SCHOLARSHIP LIST, with plenty more to come. If
you want an application for any of the scholarships listed below,
bring this list to the Counselors’ Office with your name at the top
and a mark beside each application you want. We will get the
application back to you to complete. Follow the instructions and
most importantly, make sure you have the application mailed or
turned into the Counselors’ Office by the DEADLINE DATE. NO late
applications will be accepted. THE ONES YOU HAVE TO APPLY FOR ON
THE WEB YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MARK.
NEBRASKA YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR CONTEST-if you consider yourself to be independent, action-oriented, creative,confident and opportunity seeking you may have what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur. You must plan to attend UNL to receive the scholarship. For this application you need to bring your name, address, e-mail address and phone number to Mardy in the Counselors’ Office and she will send that information to UNL and they will send you the scholarship for you fill out and return. ELK’S MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD-scholarship, leadership and financial need. DEADLINE DATE: NOVEMBER 2, 2009
VOICE OF DEMOCRACY SCHOLARSHIP-this is a scholarship available to ALL students at Northwest High School. A student is required to write and then record a short three to five minute essay covering this year’s theme, “DOES AMERICA STILL HAVE HEROES?” Each student completing a cassette tape and essay will receive $5.00 from the local VFW. This cassette tape plus the written essay must be brought to the Counselors’ Office, no later than MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2009 8:00 A.M.

COCA COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM-senior planning to attend post secondary school, 3.0 GPA (83% or above.) Coca- Cola Foundation evaluates applicants on the basis of leadership in academics, school, community and civic activities, as well as personal character and the motivation to serve and succeed. You will need our school CEEB code which is 280953, your class rank and GPA so it would be helpful to have this information before you start. PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD-this is a scholarship available to ALL students at Northwest High School. DISCOVER COLLEGES-Discover Colleges provides a FREE private college information service as well as a $2,500.00 private college scholarship drawing. Students can log onto www.discovercolleges.com to request information and automatically be entered in the $2,500.00 scholarship drawing.
US BANK INTERNET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM-Web Site Address is usbank.com/studentloans and your name will be put in a random drawing which starts in October and runs through March 31st.

HEALTH RELATED OCCUPATIONS
Any student who is interested in any of the following
health occupations should mark this and Ms. Kieselhorst will set up
a time to talk to you regarding two rural health care programs.
These programs could provide free tuition for undergraduate study
and/or immediate acceptance into a medical facility. The areas are:
Physician Assistant, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Dental
Hygiene, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medicine, Nursing or
Radiography. You do need to plan to attend either Chadron or Wayne
State College. If you are interested, please circle this and we
will set up a time to meet with you.
MIDWEST STUDENT EXCHANGE
PROGRAM
The Midwest Student Exchange Program is a program for students from
Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota or Wisconsin to enroll in designated institutions and
programs at reduced tuition levels outside their home state. If you
think you may want to take advantage of this program the Counseling
Office has more information.
