Fundraiser for Craig Gibson Family Planned
On Thursday, February 18, friends and co-workers from Northwest High School, Third City Christian Church, and GI Express will be co-sponsoring a benefit for the Craig Gibson family. Craig has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Craig, a lifelong resident of Grand Island, and his wife, Kim, have three children—Kurt, Molly, and Scott. Craig is employed by GI Express, and Kim is a secretary at Northwest High School. Kurt is employed in Omaha, Molly is student teaching at GI Senior High, and Scott is in college at Wayne State.
Because of the severity of Craig’s cancer, he is no longer able to work and is accumulating large medical expenses. To assist the Gibsons with their expenses, we will be hosting a supper, raffle, and silent auction on the 18th at Northwest High School. The menu will consist of pulled pork sandwiches, calico beans, chips, relishes and dessert. Serving will begin at 4:00 and conclude at approximately 8:30. Advance tickets can be purchased for $5 at the Northwest High School Activities Office or Business Office, at Third City Christian Church, or at GI Express. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
There will also be a raffle and a silent auction in conjunction with the meal. Raffle prizes include a side of beef with processing (value $800), a 23" Vizio LCD TV, and a Wii game system. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. To date, over 50 items have been donated for the silent auction. A list of those items will be published on the web by the end of the week. Individuals who are interested in bidding on a specific item can submit their pre-auction bid to Kate Marron via email (kmarron@esu10.org) or phone (308-385-6394, ext 144).
Anyone interested in donating an item for the silent auction or food items for the meal can contact Kate Marron (auction) or Len Mulligan (lmulliga@esu10.org -- food). Also, anyone interested in making a financial donation can do so through Five Points Bank where an account has been established, or they can send their donation to Northwest High School to be deposited.
Note: Northwest will be hosting Aurora in boys and girls basketball that evening. Game times are 4:15 (Reserve), 6:00 (Girls varsity), and 7:45 (Boys varsity).
