Northwest Girls Basketball

"I'm a baller, shot caller. These girls plan to have twenty inch blades on their Impala." Seriously the basketball girls have only one thing on their minds and that is winning. "We're all really geared toward greatness...everyone's really committed to the team," commented Senior Haley Helgoth on the team's mind set this year. Helgoth says that along with the rigorous practices, she shoots on her own time to get ready for some of the upcoming games.
"Our athleticism should help us be a solid squad this year," said Coach Moerer describing how the girls will be able to defeat teams like arch rival Hastings High. Other "go to" games will be against #1 Holdrege and #2 Crete. Steve "the Iceman" Winter says he is "excited to see what the basketball girls can throw down" at some to the major games.
Coach Moerer has faith in his four seniors to help bring the team to a competitive level. Coach Moerer says they "provide great leadership through their hard work and desire to compete." The upperclassmen, such as Shayna Schacher, Tristian Birch, Julie Stoltenberg, and Jenna Rouzee, must play solid basketball from the start to finish." says Coach Moerer.
The team appreciates the support of the fans at their games--especially the Northwest Holiday Tournament, the Conference Tournament, and Districts at UNK.
