One R Families,

Welcome Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer break with family, friends, pool time, ball games and vacations. I am super excited to see the students fill our empty hallways. Our teachers have been very busy preparing their rooms. I look forward to continuing the partnership with families in fostering “A Culture of Excellence,” at 1R.

The first day for students is Thursday, August 9th 8-12p.m. Please check out the supply list on the 1R Website. School Pictures are scheduled for August 23rd.

The PTO 1R Open House will be Monday evening August, 13th from 5:30-7:00p.m. They will be serving hot dogs, chips and watermelon. The second annual student “Watermelon Eating Contest is on!!” PTO will also be hosting membership drive along with some awesome raffle prizes to give away. We have an awesome PTO who helped move the 1R sign so it is more visible and user friendly. They are planning on doing some work on an Outdoor Classroom this fall. They are embarking on a much larger project this upcoming year for our students. They are hoping to add to the Playground Equipment!! They will need all hands on deck to do some fundraising and planning for this project. They will be sharing more information throughout the year.

All 6th grade students and/or NEW middle school students to the district need to attend the Technology BootCamp. “Technology BootCamp” is at Northwest High School on either evening of  August 2 or throughout the day August 8 you and your child must attend one of these camps prior to receiving a Chromebook. (See NW or 1R website for times) A quick reminder BootCamp is designed to share information on the responsibilities, digital citizenship and management of their technology. Parents check into backpacks with pockets for technology. All 6-8 students are required to pay a $25 technology fee please stop by the 1R office. Chromebooks will not be allowed to go home until fees and paperwork is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.

Federal Lunch Program information was emailed in July. Federal guidelines require paperwork to be submitted each year. ALL paperwork must be completed and returned to the Northwest Business office prior to school starting. If you need paperwork you may stop by Northwest Business office or 1R office.  We  DO NOT charge or CARRY lunch balances at school. You will receive alerts from Northwest via email and/or phone, the office will send a notice with your child if balance is $0.00. If we do not receive payment your child will be asked to call home and /or bring a lunch until balance is paid. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Reminder Parking lot protocol.  Everyone please enter from the North off 1R Road. K-2 are in the left lane and 3rd-8th are in the right lane. We asked that you pull clear forward when dropping off and picking up your child.  Please see the website map for a visual and inform everyone who may be picking up your child.  Our first priority is the safety of everyone. The east parking lot near Webb Rd. is not for daily student pick up. This is reserved for families who need to enter school, Third City Connect Pick up, Athletic Buses etc…  Please be patient, drive slowly, pull all the way forward when asked by staff. If we work together, it can be very efficient and safe. The parking lot is typically cleared out in under 10 minutes. Again, thank you in advance for your cooperation and the safety of all!

We look forward to a continued partnership at 1R with students, parents and families in the 2018-19 school year. Please check out the 1R Website, Facebook and Twitter. These are great places to keep updated with events and happenings at 1R. Please subscribe to 1R Google calendar with any device. We change and update this calendar on a daily basis. Please feel free to call the office or email us with questions. We are super excited  for the 2018-19 school year. Welcome back Rebels!!
