NWHS Honors Convocation
Honors Convocation will be held on Tuesday, May 7th. This ceremony will acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of our students. The Freshman/Sophomore program will begin at 1:15 and the Junior/Senior program will begin at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. Students in 9th, 10th and 11th grades will be awarded an Academic Letter if they have achieved a cumulative GPA of 93% by the end of the first semester. Seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 92% to receive an Academic Letter. Seniors that have a 90% GPA AND an ACT score of 26 in Math or Reading will be awarded the Presidential Award in Educational Excellence. Seniors in the Top 15% will also be honored. Letters are sent to eligible students that have reached these goals. Seniors will also be recognized for scholarships they have been offered. We ask seniors to please provide their letters or send their emails to the counseling office so we can include them in the program. We must have the written proof, in some form, phone calls will not be accepted. These scholarships will also be included in the May graduation program and the Grand Island Independent. The deadline to submit scholarship information is April 26th (if a scholarship is offered after this date, please let us know and see if we still have room to add it).
