Note from the Principal-May

Note from the Principal-May

Cedar Hollow Parents and Guardians,

Wow! May is here! I hope you are all doing well and ready for some nice weather! I want to update you on our year-end activities and clarify some questions in advance.

Our pig races will take place outside this year on a nice afternoon we find in May. The students and PTO did a great job of raising money for our school, and our pig races are a way for us to celebrate their accomplishments! Kacey Koch and Joanna Usher led our fundraising this year, and we want to thank them for their efforts.

Tuesday, May 4, is our 5th – 8th grade band concert at Northwest. It will begin at 7 pm. Our vocal concerts, both of which are at Northwest, will occur on Monday, May 10, for K-4, and Tuesday, May 11 for 5-8. Both concerts will begin at 6:30 pm. Students should arrive between 6 and 6:10 for the vocal concerts.

Friday, May 14, will be our field day.  This annual event  takes place at Northwest High School, beginning at 12:45. Events will be completed around 2:30, so please make plans to pick up your child at Northwest High School at that time. You will be receiving information in the next few days regarding transportation to Northwest and the overall logistics involved.

Wednesday, May 19, is our last day of school. We will have assemblies in our gym recognizing some students and groups.  Parents are welcome to attend these assemblies.  Please see the schedule below:

8th grade – 8:15 – 9:15

Kindergarten – 4th grade 9:30 – 10:30

5th grade – 7th grade 10:45 – 11:45

You are welcome to have your child leave school with you directly after their respective program is over on the 19th. If you are not able to make it to the program that day, then you can pick your child up at noon, which is our dismissal time.

We are having a number of staff retire this year. Kris Coates, K-5 SPED teacher, Karen Gruener, 2nd grade teacher, Ronda Kruger, K-5 SPED teacher, and Dorothy Schultz, paraprofessional, are all looking forward to spending time in other ways and we wish them all the best! They have been wonderful members of our staff!

To all of our families that have 8th graders or students moving to other schools, we wish you well!  To those families returning, we look forward to a great year next year, and until then, please enjoy your summer!

Mr. Mazour
