December news and updates from Mr. Mazour

December news and updates from Mr. Mazour

Cedar Hollow Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to you after just experiencing the fun of the pig races and seeing all the staff and students off to have a Happy Thanksgiving!  I sincerely hope you all have a chance to enjoy family and friends!  I want to share some items with you as we move into December.

The pig races culminated the fundraiser for the year, and I want to thank Kacey Koch and Joanna Usher for their leadership on the fundraiser.  A big thank you to all of you for raising money for the school, especially with the large number of fundraisers and the difficulties we are having with the fundraiser company.

We do have one more type of “fundraiser” before Christmas.  As a school, every three grades selects an organization in the community to support.  The K-2 students and staff selected the food pantry.  Grades 3-5 students and staff selected the crisis center and our middle school students and staff selected first responders.  If you are interested in helping any of these organizations, here are their needs.  We will collect goods until Friday, December 17, and then transport them to those respective organizations.  You are not limited to your grades’ organization. If you are interested in an organization that is outside of your grade level, feel free to bring things that would benefit them.

Food Pantry – Items needed include: cereal, canned fruit or fruit cups, canned meat, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, hamburger or tuna helper, pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes, canned soup, and ketchup.

Crisis Center –  Items needed include: aluminum foil, plastic wrap, kleenex, paper plates, freezer storage bags, napkins, towels, garbage bags, bathroom tissue, laundry soap, lysol, dryer sheets, pillows and pillow cases, sheets, bedspreads, blankets, rugs, brooms, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, hand soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, combs, lotion, pots and pans, dish soap, and dish towels.

First responders – energy bars, peanuts, gatorade, water, water flavoring, tissues, crackers, encouraging notes, pocket notebooks (with a personal note of encouragement), beef/cheese sticks, writing pens (with no caps).

Another reminder about our Christmas concerts, which all are at Northwest High School.  The K-4 concert is on Monday, December 6, at 6:30 pm.  The 5-8 concert is on Monday, December 13, also at 6:30 pm, and the band concert for grades 5-8 is on Tuesday, December 14, at 7:00 pm.  Mrs. Glaser and Mr. Meyer will have more details as those days approach.

Our Christmas parties are on our last day of school before Christmas, which is December 21.  They will begin at 2:30 pm, 2:45 for middle school.

Please make sure you continue to encourage your child(ren) to dress warmly, as we will still try to go outside for recess as the temperature lowers.  Our cutoff for going outside or not is a windchill, or feels like temperature of 20 degrees.

Again, our best wishes for you and your family to have a wonderful Thanksgiving experience and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday, November 29!

Sincerely,

Scott Mazour

Principal
