Monthly News from Mr. Mazour

Monthly News from Mr. Mazour

Dear Cedar Hollow Parents and Guardians,

I hope you and your family feel the school year has gotten off to a great start!  It has been wonderful to see all the learning occurring in so many places in our school!  Below you will find some information and important updates for the upcoming month.

School Pictures:  School picture day is tomorrow (Thursday, August 25).  Pictures will take place first thing in the morning. We will work to rotate all students through as quickly as possible.

Fire Drill: On Friday, August 26,  we will have our first fire drill.

Lockdown Drill: On Tuesday, August 30, we will have our first lockdown drill.  In this drill, we will practice how to ensure all students and staff are as safe as possible in their classrooms.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at school.  You are also encouraged to talk to your child when the drill is over.  Please also know that our staff will debrief with students after the drill is over to talk about questions and listen to any concerns.

Monday, August 29: Monday at 5:30 pm will be our first PTO meeting of the new school year.  On behalf of the PTO, I would like to encourage you to consider coming to the meetings.  They are held in our library on the fourth Monday of the month unless otherwise noted.  If you are not able to attend the meetings, but would be willing to help in any other way, please let our PTO know.  Our PTO has done and continues to do so much for our school and we very much appreciate all their efforts!

Traffic: I also want to inform you of an item that is seemingly unimportant until there is an accident.  Our main goal in our school is safety, and that includes traffic flow outside of our school.  When you are driving near school, whether picking up or dropping off, it is so important that you keep safety in mind.  Please use safe speeds and do not accelerate too quickly.  I know that time is such an important thing in all of our lives, but it just takes a fraction of a second to have a tragedy, and unsafe speeds or driving decisions can increase that possibility a great deal.  Thank you for your help in this matter.

Option Enrollment: For those who are interested or know of families who might also be interested in optioning into Cedar Hollow or Northwest for the 2023-2024 school year, September 1, 2022 is an important date. Thursday, September 1, 2022 is the first day option paperwork is accepted for next school year. For more information including the option form, please click here.

Tech Tip from Mrs. Callihan: Social media tools, restrictions and content often seem overwhelming and bring lots of questions. Mrs. Callihan recently shared a new feature within Snapchat called Family Center. Although this is not a total “tracking” tool, it provides an extra layer of comfort for parents to know who their child is communicating with or who their “friends” are. You are encouraged to take a look to see if this might be a fit for you and your family. More information can be found here.
