December News from Mr. Mazour

December News from Mr. Mazour

Parents and Guardians,

I hope all of you are transitioning well to the winter weather!  I appreciate you helping make sure your children are leaving the house with winter apparel as we do try to go outside if the weather is warm enough.  In addition, our kiddos will be outside for pickup, so we really appreciate the efforts to make sure they are warm and safe.

We have a number of important events happening in school.   Beginning December 1, all of our students in grades 3-8 will be taking the state NSCAS test in both reading and math.  Any help you can give your child in terms of a great breakfast and plenty of sleep in the next week or two is really appreciated!

Cedar Hollow traditionally has “adopted” three organizations that we allow our students and families to donate to if interested.  We will generally have a representative come out from that organization and provide information about their organization to our students.  This year the organizations chosen are listed below, with items that support those organization listed in parentheses:

K-2  Child Advocacy Center (Individually Wrapped Snacks, New blankets for children, Paper towels & Toilet Paper, Books, Bottled water, Pillowcases)

3-5 Food Pantry (soups, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, pasta, ramen noodles, canned ravioli, canned fruit and vegetables, baby food, condiments, and any other non perishable items)

6-8 Humane Society (http://bit.ly/3ETSq3D)

I also would like to remind you of our Christmas concert times and dates.  All are at Northwest High School and will begin at 6:30 pm.  Our K-4 concert is on Tuesday, December 13.  Our 5-8 concert is on Monday, December 19, and our district wide band concert for grades 5-8 is on Monday, December 12.  Our hope is that everyone can “dress up” for the concerts if possible.  We then dismiss for the holidays on Wednesday, December 21 at 2:00.  Our class parties will begin after 1:15 that day, depending on the grade for specific start times.

Northwest had a glitch in their lunch program, but that has been resolved.  If you get communication regarding a negative or low lunch balance, if you could please get a payment to the office that is much appreciated!

Lastly, I would like to wish all of your families the happiest of holiday seasons!  We are always so appreciative of the way you work with us to make a great team for your child’s education!

Sincerely,

Mr. Mazour
