February Newsletter

I find it hard to believe that we are already in February. It seems like yesterday I was watching the Vikings play fall sports. Time flies when you are having fun!

Tomorrow, February 2, is our 8th grade orientation night. If you have an 8th grader, please come to this event. Doors open at 6 PM! From 6:00 – 6:45 it will be an open house format in which you can walk around the school with your student. Our teachers will be by their classrooms and would love to visit with you. At 6:45 we will have everyone go to the auditorium. The night will finish in the gym. Each one of our coaches and sponsors will have a booth set up. We encourage students to visit the booths! I hope to see a ton of people there! Please pass this information along to all your friends that have 8th graders!

Next Wednesday, February 8, is parent/teacher conferences. It’s one day only for the second semester. Students will have a 12:39 dismissal on this day. Parent/teacher conferences will run from 3:30 – 8:00. As a reminder, we will not have school on Friday, February 10.

Junior parents, I sent you all an email with a form attached that I need you to fill out. It will take less than a minute. I have heard back from many of you, but not all of you. All juniors will be taking the ACT for free at the high school on April 4. This form gives consent for your student’s scores to be sent to 4 institutions free of charge. If you have not filled this out yet, please do so. If you can’t find the email, reach out to me and I’ll send it to you again. Every junior parent must fill this out.

Mrs Merritt and Mrs Smith, our counselors at the high school, do a tremendous job working with our students. I just want to make you aware that they do have a site that has great information on it. They post scholarship information, ACT information, information you need to know if your student is planning on competing in athletics in college, and much more. To find their site, simply go to our school website, click on students, and their site is listed at the bottom.

I also want to make sure you know that you can access the daily bulletin from PowerSchool. The daily bulletin gives you information about upcoming events as well as reminders about things that need to be done. Please make it a priority to check this daily.

I wish you all the very best the rest of this week. As always, if there is anything we can do to help you or your student out, please reach out to us!

Every Day Is A Great Day To Be A Viking!
