August 2024: Note from the Principal

August 2024: Note from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the staff at Cedar Hollow School, I am happy to welcome you to the 24-25 school year! I am honored and excited to partner with you and your child’s teacher to make this year a great learning experience for your child.

Here are some important dates I want to make you aware of:

Open House– Wednesday, August 14th 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.

  • New Student Meeting with PTO (Grades 1-8) 6:30 in the gym
  • All 6th Graders and New 7/8th Graders 7:30 – 8:00 in the gym

1st Day of School– Thursday, August 15th FULL day 8:00 – 3:15

Open House is a way for your child to meet their teacher and many classmates, and also get comfortable with the classroom(s) and other parts of the school.

Our New-to-Middle-School Meeting will have middle school staff there to provide you with information, including communication, grading, various supports for your child, etc. If your child is in middle school for the first time, we would really encourage you to stay for that meeting.

It is important to update PowerSchool with your current phone numbers, addresses, and emails. We use this information to contact you in case of emergencies, events, inclement weather, and many other important details available through PowerSchool.

Please set up/ add funds to your child’s lunch account. This can be done via  E-Funds. Students will need to have current daily balances for a hot lunch.  If not, you will receive alert notifications, paper notes and/or your child may be asked to call home if balances are negative. If you would like to eat lunch with your child for a special occasion, please contact the office the day before or the day of by 8:30 AM so we may include you in the lunch count and be aware of your visit.

Our priority is the safety of students, staff, and parents. Please review protocol for morning drop off and after school pick up. We ask that students not arrive before 7:45 AM. School begins at 8:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and concludes at 3:15 PM. On Wednesdays, school ends at 2:00 PM. No children are to be at school 30 minutes after the last bell. Please share this information with other guardians, siblings, grandparents or others who may be transporting your child. If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, please call ahead and park in the east parking lot. During normal drop off and pick up times, please stay in your vehicle and pull all the way up. School personnel are available to monitor students walking to their vehicles. This will help get more vehicles into the parking lot so students can be dropped off and picked up more quickly. Please plan for approximately 15 minutes from dismissal to exit, as we ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

Please welcome our new careers teacher, Kay Carpenter, and our new art teacher, Emily Broadwell to the Cedar Hollow team!

We look forward to seeing all of you at Open House, and look forward to a great year!  Please contact the office if you have any questions regarding the upcoming year at (308)385-6306.

Sincerely,

Jaimi Stelk, Principal
