JUNE NEWS FROM MR. SMITH

JUNE NEWS FROM MR. SMITH

June Newsletter

Hello Northwest parents, stakeholders and students.  I hope everyone is enjoying the summer break thus far!  It’s been great to see the weight room, gyms, auditorium, and football field full of students.  Putting in work now will pay dividends later.  Keep up the good work!

There are a few important items I want you to be aware of for this summer.  First, the summer moratorium runs from Saturday, July 1 through Sunday July 9.  During this time there are to be no activities going on at the school, including weights.  This is a time where we encourage families to get away and enjoy some time together.  Summer weights and activities will resume on Monday, July 10.

Tuesday, July 18 from 8am- 3pm, Mrs. Merritt and Mrs. Smith will be available in the counseling office to make schedule changes.  You do NOT need to make an appointment, just walk in. Please come in door 8.  It’s important that you make changes to your schedule during this time if you need to do so.

We have set the dates for Homecoming, Winter Ball, and Prom.  Homecoming will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023.  As always, we will have a pep rally during the week in which we announce the candidates, play some games, and do other things to promote our school spirit.  Winter Ball will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024.  The date for Prom is Saturday, April 6, 2024.

I encourage you all to find time to do things as a family each week during the summer.  Put down the devices, turn off the television and find something to do together.  Nothing feels better than growing closer as a family.  This time also opens the door to having better communication with your child.  As always, please reach out if you need anything.

It’s a great day to be a Viking,

Mr Smith
