NORTHWEST EDUCATION FOUNDATION
The mission of the Northwest Education Foundation is to develop, maintain, and promote programs, scholarships, and projects that enrich the opportunities for students of the Northwest Public Schools.
The Northwest Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1993. The Foundation’s primary aim is to support Northwest Public Schools’ students and teachers through scholarships and grants that provide extraordinary learning opportunities for the students in Northwest Public Schools. NEF also supports District improvement projects to assist in making the District’s facilities some of the best in the State.
The Northwest Education Foundation works in many ways to fuel student achievement and provide opportunities for outstanding learning. One of the most important programs is Scholarships for graduates. Through the generosity of many donors, NEF provides more than $23,000 in scholarships annually. We are proud to say that this amount is growing every year. NEF prides itself in making a difference toward educational success by helping students reach their fullest potential.
Classroom Mini-Grants are another focus that the foundation works hard to provide. These grants fund projects which establish creative and innovative approaches to teaching that cannot currently be funded through the Northwest Public Schools’ budget. Our goal is to give our educators the financial support to inspire students and change lives. It is extremely important to support educators who have a vision of ensuring quality education for our children; thinking out of the box, but as an enhancement to the District Curriculum.
NEF has many additional projects including Classified Mini-Grants, “Leave A Legacy” brick display, the Distinguished Alumni Award, Distinguished Educator Award, and Distinguished Education Advocate Award. NEF is also responsible for a touchscreen kiosk that displays every Northwest High School Yearbook, Activity Awards, Athletic Awards, Volleyball History, past Musicals, and the Viking Saga Newspaper. The foundation is also proud to sell “From a Dream to High School in Just 7 Months”, a book about the interesting history of Northwest High School from its conception.
The Northwest Education Foundation has an accessible alumni database of all the Northwest graduating classes. You can access the database by clicking on a large button titled “NWHS Alumni Directory” on the Northwest Public Schools main webpage. An Alum can update their own personal information, search out a classmate, or run a list for an upcoming Class Reunion. This is a great way for the foundation to be able to keep in touch with you on exciting things that are happening.
The Northwest Education Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank our donors for your generous support; we truly appreciate all your contributions, big or small. Your support is always needed and always invaluable. If you would like to donate to the Northwest Education Foundation, please contact the NEF office at 308-385-6398, Ext. 5122, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
