Dear Parents and Guardians,

I want to welcome all of you to Cedar Hollow School, many of you welcome back, and some of you a welcome for the first time.  Whatever the case, I look forward to being a partner with you and our staff in educating your child.  I can’t wait to see everyone again, and am ready for an outstanding year!

The first thing I would like to do is let you know of some important dates coming up.  Obviously the most important date is the first day of school, which is Thursday, August 10.  The bell to welcome students into class rings at 7:55, and then at 8:00 we start our day..  Both days that week, Thursday and Friday, are full days of school with dismissal at our normal time, 3:15.  

The night before school starts we have our Open House.  The Open House will run from 6:30 until 7:30 pm, again on Wednesday, August 9.  Hopefully your child can attend and then get home in time for a good night’s sleep.  The Open House is a way for your child to meet their teacher and many classmates, and also get comfortable with the classroom(s) and other parts of the school.  There are two meetings that will occur that night as well.  We will have a very brief (ten minutes) meeting for all of our incoming kindergarten parents and students, as well as all of our new students to Cedar Hollow in grades 1-8 and their parents.  Our PTO will introduce themselves and let you know opportunities throughout the year to participate and get an idea of all the different things that go on at Cedar Hollow outside the classroom.  This meeting will be in the gym.  

The second meeting will occur right at 7:30 when the open house concludes.   It will also be in the gym.  This meeting is for all new students in middle school.  This would include all 6th grade students, as well as all students in grades 7 and 8 new to Cedar Hollow.  All middle school staff will be there and we will provide you with information about our middle school, including communication, grading, various supports for your child, etc.. If your child is in middle school for the first time, I would really encourage you to stay for that meeting, which will be over at 8 pm.  

In addition, many of you remember last spring when we discussed a fitness club that will take place before school for any students interested.   The club will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each day this fall for any student grade k-8.  It will begin at approximately 7:30 each morning, starting on Monday, August 21, and will take place outside on the softball field just south of the school.  Students should report to the front door each day and will be accompanied by Karisa Halpine, one of our parents, who is running the club.  If interested, please hit this link, fill out the Google form and Karisa will be in touch with you and provide more information.
