Cedar Hollow Parent Newsletter – March 2024

Cedar Hollow Parent Newsletter – March 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

March already!  The year is speeding by!  We are beginning our last quarter of the year on Monday.  I just want to share some information with all of you.

We appreciated the communication and sharing that took place at our Parent-Teacher Conferences.  This was the second year in a row that we had student-led conferences in our middle school and we appreciate any input from you regarding this process.

Our spring sports season will be getting underway for our middle school athletes.  Both track and soccer will begin practices on Monday, March 18.  If your middle school child wants to participate but has not signed up, it is not too late!

We have a number of activities coming up in the spring and want to provide you with those dates.  Our Talent Show is being planned for Thursday, April 18.  A paper will go out with students in the next week or so allowing students to sign up.  Please be looking out for this if your child is interested in participating. It is available to all K-2 students.

Our Intro to Kindergarten experience for prospective parents of kindergartners is Tuesday, April 16 at 8:00 am.  If you yourself or someone you know has an incoming kindergartner, and have not registered, please contact the school office.

Our spring concerts will have a change this year.  We will have a K-5 Spring Concert at Northwest High School on Tuesday, April 30, beginning at 6:30 pm.  We will not be having a school-wide concert for our middle school students, but will instead have an opportunity for those middle school students that wish to perform as part of a district wide honor choir type group after working with both Ms. Hamilton, but also Mr. Vylidahl and high school show choir students.  The exact date will be announced soon.

Our Field Day for K-6th grade students will take place Friday, May 10, beginning at 12:45 at Northwest High School.  Then our proposed last day of school, including our assemblies, will take place Wednesday, May 15.  Assembly times are as follows:  8th grade 8:15 – 9:15, K-4 9:30 – 10:30, and 5-7 10:45 – 11:45.  I say proposed because the Northwest School Board will decide at their meeting on Monday, March 11, if we will be keeping our calendar the way it is scheduled or if we have to add a day.

Lastly, I want to let you all know that I am retiring at the end of this school year.  I have spent 32 years in education in the Northwest Public Schools, with my last thirteen being here at Cedar Hollow.  I have always appreciated the tremendous support our school has received from all of our parents, and how strong of partners you have been with us in educating your children.  A sincere thank you to all of you for that.

I hope your kids all enjoy their break from school and look forward to seeing them Monday!

Sincerely,

Mr. Mazour

Principal
