January news and updates from Mr. Mazour

January news and updates from Mr. Mazour

Cedar Hollow Parents and Guardians,

The holiday break went fast, but it is great to see all students and staff again today!  I sincerely hope all of you were able to enjoy your families during the holiday season.  I also want to share information about the happenings at Cedar Hollow!

We ended the first semester of classes with a few fun celebrations sponsored by our PTO.  Thanks to the PTO for their wonderful support.  Before that, we took winter assessments in DIBELS, MAPS, and NSCAS depending on the grade of the student.  Your classroom teachers will be sharing that data with you at the February Parent-Teacher Conferences, which are February 7 and 8.  We will then use that data to set goals for the spring and guide instruction.

We want to thank those of you who filled out a survey for us at the Holiday Concerts.  We take your opinions very seriously.  It is especially helpful to get comments that help us understand as specifically as possible your thoughts.  We appreciate all the positive feedback, and take a long look at comments regarding items you feel we should improve on.  Those items help us grow, just as we are asking our students to grow!

With the cold weather, it is extra important to help us by making sure your child is leaving the house with warm clothes on.  We go outside with all students anytime it feels like 20 degrees outside so that can be tough when students are not bringing a coat, etc…  Thanks for your help with this!

Our report cards will be sent home on Thursday, January 11 with your children.  Please return and sign the envelope so we know you received your copy.  You can also access your child’s report card by accessing your PowerSchool parent portal.  If you have any questions regarding access the parent portal, please contact Heather Callihan, our district technology integrationist, at hcallihan@ginorthwest.org

I would also like to put in a plug for our PTO.  Our PTO is very involved in our school on a consistent basis.  I would just encourage any of you that are at all interested to come to our PTO meetings.  Normally they are on the fourth Monday of the month.  This month they will actually be on the fifth Monday, January 29, due to scheduling conflicts.  They always begin at 5:30 in the library.  Thanks for considering it and supporting our school!

As always, I appreciate all you do to be a wonderful partner with us in the education of your child!

Sincerely,

Mr. Mazour

Principal
